Creating a serious of over twenty bus shelters in the greater Mesa area was no easy task, especially when one of the pieces was a dramatic and technically complex art shelter. But Magnum was up to the task. Beginning at the corner of Main Street and Power Road in Mesa, Arizona, Magnum utilized their Seattle series of hardscape furnishings (available here) to create dynamic modern bus shelters and shade canopies. The series of bus shelters included custom punched, formed and coating heavy duty steel benches, seats, trash cans and even bike racks. Lori Lundquist was the artist and designer for the art shelter, she has since partnered with Magnum on a host of other projects. The large custom milled aluminum balls are meant to represent rain drops, the effect is a striking and beautiful modern shade canopy that is unlike any other.
